My name is Alec Couros, and I have developed this digital portfolio in support of my application for tenure and promotion at the Faculty of Education, University of Regina. The majority of my academic and professional work is created, facilitated and shared online and this format most appropriately represents my ongoing work and leadership in the field of educational technology and social media.

The Faculty of Education’s Criteria Document utilizes seven criteria to assess and evaluate applicants for tenure, promotion, and merit. Therefore, this portfolio has been structured around these criteria, and each can be accessed from either the top or right-hand menu.

I have been at the Faculty of Education since 1999. For the period from July 1, 1999 to December 31, 2006, I was employed as a seconded teacher with roles and responsibilities similar to that of an Assistant Professor with additional administrative responsibilities related to ICT leadership. On January 1, 2007, I began a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor while continuing my role as the ICT Coordinator of the Faculty of Education. This portfolio highlights relevant snapshots of my work at the University of Regina, and more generally, it describes my life as a teacher and scholar within a vast, global learning network.
